When my sister in law Lucy was over visiting we went shopping in Glendale and checked out the new Free People store. We saw these amazing sequins canvas on there wall display. SO I decided to do my own version of it and here is my first attempt! I have some more fabric to try some more styles out. I think my flower pattern is not strong enough against the gold sequins. As I do more I will post them! Please leave me your comments and let me know what you think about my attempt!

Creative day with Jess and Lisa
Lisa Soltis is a freelance textile designer and her and her husband Dan have just moved into a cool new loft apartment in downtown LA. It is such an amazing studio space and I am looking forward to spending future afternoons creating in this space.

I ordered these fabulous prints from Studio Mela on etsy and I love them so much. I'm going to buy some really nice frames for them and put them up in my kitchen I think.

Artist Patrick Heron
When I was college looking for inspiration in the libary I came across and British painter called Patrick Heron whose work I fell in love with me. He's use of colour and abstract shapes really helped my textile work. I recently remembered him and looked him up on the web and here are a couple of pictures to inspire you also and remind me of how great his work his.

Lets start with a few of my favorite things....
Buttons, Buttons, Buttons, I love them! Above is a picture of my button box, I got alot of them in downtown La in the fashion district, I had so many more lovely buttons but I had to leave them back at home in Dublin, Ireland when we moved out to LA. So I am slowly trying to find some new buttons to add to my collection!
I also gathered a collection of my favorite Etsy button finds for you all to enjoy.....
